Alisen and her partner Alfredo began late-night music-making sessions in their home studio over fifteen years ago. Alisen sings lyrics on the spot while listening to Alfredo improvise playing chords or melodic ideas on the guitar or keyboard. With the "record" button always on during sessions, they are able to capture the times when they intuit the direction the other is headed, and create a fully-actualized song in one take. Other times, their sessions generate a musical moment that they develop into a song in the future. Using stream of consciousness to create lyrics, Alisen rarely changes any of the original words she sings, accepting that many of the ideas in the songs may be abstract, and at other times make little sense. 

In 2021, Ghost Shepherd released their first album, From the After Hours of the Heart, and it's available on all major streaming platforms and as a limited-edition Canadian vinyl pressing available through Bandcamp.
